miss on the life of Miss USA.

When I heard that Miss USA was on last night I felt like I had won a beauty pageant. Or some sort of competition. It was just too coincidental that the night I had nothing to do, nothing to watch on tv, and time to relax this spectacle would be on tv. So of course, I watched it.

Now I won't sit here and tell you that I watched intently for 2 hours and knew who won before this morning.. but I watched enough to have an opinion on the whole thing.

Miss California Alyssa Campanella was crowned Miss USA Sunday night in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to Miss California Alyssa Campanella who was crowned Miss USA last night. From the moment I saw this gorgeous ginger wearing a teal dress I knew she would be in the top. It's not everyday you see a stunning girl with red hair (and few freckles) so she deserves that tiara she now wears atop her head.

NOTE: Due to some insider information, I have come to find out that pretty Alyssa is not even FROM California, she is from the East Coast. She just moved to California because she thought it would give her the best chance of winning (and it did). AND SOME BAD NEWS: She is not a real red head. She is blonde. What. A. Bummer.

However, when Guiliana was hosting I was confused and bewildered. Why her? I love her but really, how utterly random. And when Guiliana was parading down those stairs holding her dress up I could have sworn I saw her underwear. Yikes.

Some highlights:

  • Each and every Miss (insert state) galloped up to the microphone and SCREAMED their name and age into the thing. I mean SCREAMED.. and bobbed their heads.
  • Kelly Osborne was a fashion announcer (WHY?)
  • Seeing the past 60 year winners of Miss USA and how they've aged (I'd like to say that we didn't pause and then slowly watch and critique each and every one but.. we did.. and it was great)
  • The montage of 80's wear before the swimsuit competition. HELLO FUR COAT. PETA would have a fit.
  • Tinie Tempah performing- yes, you know who he is. 'Written in the Stars'

Overall, thoroughly entertaining.. and a quality diet enhancer. I second guessed eating that cheeseburger while I was watching the show. But once it was over.. I ate two. Oops.

Thanks to my sister for providing me the inside scoop
